CITY REFUSE COLLECTION TO BE MODIFIED FOR THANKSGIVING, ON REGULAR SCHEDULE FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS

(Charleston, W. Va.) – The City of Charleston Public Works Department today announced City refuse collection will only be modified the week of Thanksgiving – collection will be unaffected the week of Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Automated calls are being used, again this year, as a proactive effort to inform residents of the upcoming holiday collection schedule. 

Week of Thanksgiving (November 19 – 25)

  • If your trash is normally picked up on Tuesday, it will be picked up Monday (November 20).
  • If your trash is normally picked up on Wednesday, it will be picked up Tuesday (November 21).
  • If your trash is normally picked up on Thursday, it will be picked up Wednesday (November 22).
  • If your trash is normally picked up on Friday, it will be picked up Friday (November 24)

*No trash will be collected Thanksgiving Day. 

Week of Christmas (December 24 – 30)

The collection schedule is unaffected – trash will be picked up on regular schedule.

Week of New Year’s (December 30 – January 6)

The collection schedule is unaffected – trash will be picked up on regular schedule.
